Family Days out this half term in North Wales
It’s half term week and you’re looking to get out and about with the kids but are you still searching for things to do with your family?
We’ve got some great ideas to get you heading out and about and having fun. Why not pop in for lunch or head over for a warming evening meal at our family friendly pub and restaurant as you explore the best family days out that North Wales has to offer?
Don’t forget at the start of the week, you can still get to try some of the spooky Halloween activities we wrote about last week.
Harlech Castle
Get the kids exploring with a visit to this grand castle. Perched on the rocks it stands majestically looking out to the sea. The kids can explore inside and out of the castle, and you can even bring the dogs. See if you can find the secret escape route! Find out more here.
Craflwyn night time ramble
If you fancy wrapping up, you can head off for a night-time ramble on Thursday 2nd November. Get out in nature, gaze at the stars but make sure you take you torches and waterproofs. You’ll need to book but it’s free to attend – Call 01766 510120. Alternatively you can get out in the daytime around the beautiful area of Craflwyn and Beddgelert and then head over to us for a warming hot drink or a beer afterwards.
Llanfair Slate Caverns
If getting outdoors is not your thing, or the traditional half term rain has started, what about heading underground to check out the slate caverns? As long as you don’t mind being underground in the dark, you can explore the twists and turns of these manmade tunnels and make up pirate and smuggling adventures.
Dwyfor Ranch Rabbit Farm and Animal Park
Head down to the farm to meet some of the animals and get a chance to stroke the rabbits and guinea pigs. Kids can also hand feed some of the larger animals such as goats and alpacas. Better get there early though as it closes for the winter on 4th November.
Red Squirrel Week
It’s red squirrel week at Plas Newydd House and Gardens where there’ll be special walks, talks and even squirrel themed crafts between 11am and 3pm, as well as the usual house and gardens to visit, where you might be able to spot a real life red squirrel. No need to book.
Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway
This wonderful railway stretches across 40 miles, around the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. Under 3’s travel free, and one under 16 is free with an adult 3rd class ticket. You can stay with us and then pick up the train at Porthmadog station before embarking on your big adventure.
With all these great days out, you’ll need somewhere great to stay. Give us a call on 01766 512421, email us at info@goldenfleeceinn.com or you can click here to book one of our lovely, family friendly rooms or our cosy two bedroomed cottage.
