The Best Coastal Walks Nr Porthmadog
Porthmadog is famous for being the gateway to Snowdonia National Park, it is a place many visitors choose to stay who want to explore the beautiful landscape. But the area has more to offer than the vast National Park, here are a couple interesting walks which showcase the incredible North Welsh coastline.
Shimmering Snowdonia Sandbanks, Borth y Gest and Porthmadog
Starting in Porthmadog harbour, this 9½ mile walk follows one of the most beautiful river estuaries in Wales. Experience the rocky headlands, coves and beaches of the River Glaslyn, before walking onto Black Rock Sands Beach where you can see all the way to Ireland on a clear day! The trail then heads inland through Porthmadog Golf Club and up the side of Moel y Gest hill, where you can experience stunning views of Snowdonia and Tremadog Bay.

Panorama Walk, Barmouth
Situated approximately 20 miles away from Porthmadog, the Panorama Walk is something of a classic, which visitors have been enjoying since Victorian times. The route comprises of a short, medium and long version – so you can choose the correct trail depending on your level of ability and amount of spare time.

Porthmadog and Tremadog Tour
Starting in Porthmadog harbour, this 6½ mile walk takes you through Parc-y-Borth nature reserve, up to the historic village of Tremadog, and back down through the charming town of Porthmadog. The trail is steeped in history and is recommended for individuals who have not previously visited the area.

Llanystumdwy Circular Walk
Situated approximately 7 miles away from Porthmadog, the village of Llanystumdwy is a charming settlement on the banks of the River Dwyfor. Whilst the walk does not actually follow the Welsh coastline, you are able to witness stunning views of Tremadog bay and the surrounding countryside along the 3 mile trail.
