From white water rafting to caves, quad bikes and zip wires, here in North Wales we’ve got all the adventure you’ll ever need. Not far from our hotel in Porthmadog there are a range of different activities: both indoor and outdoor, family friendly and adults only.
Zip World Blaenau
Experience the longest zip line in Europe. Not only that but it’s also the fastest in the world! Zip World has stunning views over the valley as you zip across it. Not only can you look over the valley as you slide but you can also travel through the caves on zip lines and underground bridges to tour the vast underground tunnels.
Why not take advantage of their winter offer available below:

Beacon Climbing Centre
Beacon is the largest indoor climbing centre in North Wales. As it’s inside, it doesn’t matter whether it’s raining or snowing outside, because you can still climb to your heart’s content and stay warm and dry. You can start climbing as a complete beginner on the easy walls or do some experienced and challenging climbs. Try the CrazyClimb for some fun challenges with a twist.
Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre
At the National Outdoor Centre you can try all sorts of watery activities. Have a go at windsurfing, try your hand at sea kayaking, dinghy sailing or powerboating. Or if you prefer you can experience canoeing or sailing a catamaran. The centre has courses where you can get an in-depth experience, but you can also do shorter half day activities.
Go Below
Go Below is a series of awesome adventures underground. From zip lining through the caves, to climbing up a vertical shaft, you can ascend waterfalls or even abseil down to what is the deepest point in the UK. It’s probably not for the faint hearted, although the boating across the lake actually looks very serene, but if you like underground escapades, this is definitely for you.
National White water centre
Have you ever wanted to white water raft? This centre is perfect for you if so. With different grades of rapids from gentle to full on, family rafting, and even canyoning (where you won’t need a boat because you’ll climb, scramble and swim through the gorge). Events start from one and a half hours to full activity days. They’ll even transport you back to the centre from wherever you end up and give you a warm shower afterwards!
Madog Quads
Set in countryside not far from our hotel, Madog Quads quad biking is great fun for kids (over 6) and adults alike. You can take a gentle ride through the Welsh countryside if you prefer, or you can really go for it over the bumps and lumps, and down into the dips for a much rockier ride. Just remember to dress for a muddy experience if it’s wet!
