Afternoon Tea in Porthmadog
When you come to visit us, especially in the winter, there’s a chance the weather might not be good enough to get out and explore the beautiful Welsh countryside and all that North Wales has to offer. Alternatively you may wish to use your visit to combine a bit of exploring and a bit of eating which is the best of both worlds!
Afternoon tea is a great way to pass a cold or rainy afternoon with friends or family. There are some great places that offer afternoon tea not far from our accommodation near Porthmadog. Here’s a selection to get your mouth watering;
Afternoon Tea at Portmeirion Village
Afternoon tea is served each afternoon in the delightful hotel dining room in Portmeirion with stunning views overlooking the estuary. You can combine your own perfect afternoon tea from the menu by choosing each item yourself including Welsh favourites like Bara Brith. A stroll around the village afterwards to marvel at the beautiful architecture will help you walk it all off!
Penmaenuchaf Hall
The afternoon tea at Penmaenuchaf Hall will give you a real taste of Wales and start your stomach rumbling! Set in the beautiful garden room restaurant, you can choose from a Welsh afternoon tea, the classic English afternoon tea, or live the decadent life with champagne and scones.
Pullman Afternoon Tea
An extra special treat, the Pullman Afternoon Tea runs from April to October on the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway but gets booked up quickly, so be sure to check the dates and book early. You’ll travel first class from Caernarfon through the Snowdonia National Park, enjoying a classic afternoon tea whilst you travel towards Porthmadog where you will then disembark, and can enjoy all our beautiful town has to offer.
Ty’n Rhos
Located just six miles from Snowdonia National Park Ty’n Rhos is a boutique hotel set in a rural landscape that offers afternoon tea with or without champagne! The menu offers a traditional English afternoon tea, with a mix of English and Welsh cakes. You can sit and sip your tea with views of the garden and enjoy the fine Welsh countryside. This afternoon tea is available to non residents but you’ll need to book first.
Petal a Pot
Petal a Pot is situated in Abersoch Garden centre, but is much more than just a cafe. Relax in the French style tea room, or if the sun is out enjoy the Mediterranean terrace. The tea room offers a traditional afternoon tea with homemade cakes and the cakes are made with local free range eggs and fresh lemons and oranges.
Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want to make the most of your holiday there’s an afternoon tea and a budget to suit everyone. After you’ve sampled the cakes and tiny sandwiches, what better way than to extend your visit with a stay in one of our hotel style bedrooms? If you’re still hungry, we have a tasty menu of freshly cooked meals in our restaurant. To book our porthmadog hotel, either visit our direct booking page or call us on 01766 512421.
