The Best Adventure Activities in North Wales
While North Wales certainly can boast some of the most picturesque landscapes in the country, it is not all just great views and stunning scenery. There is plenty to attract even the most hardly thrill seekers of all ages. If you are looking to add a touch of adventure and drama to your holiday in North Wales, then these attractions are just what you’re looking for. But be warned, they are not for the faint of heart and you will definitely need some accommodation in Porthmadog in which to recover from your adventure before you take on the next one!
Zip lines
With the longest zip line in the Northern Hemisphere and the World’s first four-person zip line, North Wales is the zip line capital of the world. With three different locations, Zip World offers thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies the opportunity to experience life above the trees as you whizz through forests and over quarries. One zip line, Velocity, is the longest in Europe and the fastest in the World as is perfect for those looking for a unique experience they won’t forget in a hurry. Zip World Fforest has an array of attraction from a giant zip swing, tree tops nets, a tree roller coaster and a mini climbing course for younger members of the family. There really is something for everyone from the hardcore thrill seeker to a mini explorer.
Bounce inside a cave
Many of you may have been to a trampoline park before but Bounce Below is a truly unique experience that you won’t find anywhere else. This is a netted bounce park like no other and as you descend in to the caves in which it is found you will begin to see why. Adventurers aged 7 and up can explore the massive 400 square meter underground playground found in an old slate mine. With slides the size of double decker busses and six layers of netted bouncing fun, Bounce Below is a day out that the whole family will enjoy and remember for years to come. In a space the size of a cathedral, you are going to want to spend the entire day here exploring and having fun.
Go Ape
North Wales is home to the only Go Ape in Wales. Found in Margam Country Park, Go Ape gives daredevils the chance to explore the dizzying heights of the treetops on a high rope course which includes a stomach churning leap of faith from six feet in the air. Go Ape at Margam is also home to the UK’s biggest Tarzan Swing, if you dare you give it a try. Margam Country Park has the UK’s biggest deer population; see if you can spot them if you can bare to look down while you explore the treetop playground.
There’s plenty of activities to try in the area, so why not book in for some exercise – and fun – when you stay in North Wales for your next break!
