Take a ‘self care’ break in Porthmadog

We’ve hit blue Monday recently, which is the day of the year when everyone is at their most miserable.

The cold weather and dark nights have really hit, we’re all skint after Christmas, and our summer holidays seem like a dot on the horizon.

Incidentally it’s also in the week when most people are booking holidays. We’ve got a great way to combine the two; why not use this time of the year to take some ‘me time’? Get away from your usual surroundings and come and join us for a self care break. Here’s some ideas to get you started:

  1. Cosy down for some relaxation

Curl up in a blanket, make a hot chocolate and get your head into a good book, or stick on some music or a mediation. It doesn’t matter what the weather is like outside, or whether it’s getting dark – put your feet up, lie back on the cushions and take a deep relaxing sigh. You’ve nowhere to be, and nothing to do but relax.

  1. Get some fresh air

Once you’re all blissed out, put on your wellies or some walking shoes, wrap up warm and head out into the glorious countryside around us for a long walk. The fresh air will put colour in your cheeks, and the walking is really good for reducing stress, increasing circulation and getting your endorphins going. When you head back to us,  you can relax with a local ale, or a glass of wine by our open fire.

  1. Enjoy home cooked food

During your visit, rather than stressing about where to eat, or driving around looking for restaurants, why not eat all your meals with us? You don’t even have to venture out of the room/cottage if you don’t want to. It’s all about you. Our talented chef cooks a wide range of foods, so whether you’re looking for a sandwich lunch, or some good home cooking,  settle down and enjoy.

  1. Look after your body and mind

Away from all the everyday stresses, allow your body and mind to unwind. Take a bath and wallow in it, bring a project with you that you’ve been trying to start, settle down with a kindle or catch up on some well needed sleep.

Alternatively get your brain fired up by trying a new activity. We’ve got loads of local great activities, events and classes on offer. Book on one of the classes at Glosters Pottery, try a bit of mindfulness or give yourself a treatment or a relaxing massage in Porthmadog.

5.Enjoy some peace and quiet

Finally enjoy what we’re well known for here in Porthmadog and wider Snowdonia – silence. If you need to get away from everything and everyone and you want some peace and quiet, here’s a good place to do it. When you want company, you can find it in our friendly bar and restaurant, but equally book out our two bedroom self catering cottage and you can have alone time for as long as you’d like it.
