Porthmadog Food Tour

One of the great things about holidays is the absolute lack of having to do anything. No pressures, no jam packed agenda, just kicking back, relaxing and enjoying your time away from busyness.

If you feel like you want to do something  relaxing whilst you’re on holiday though, what could be better than heading round Porthmadog tasting all there is to offer?

We’ve put together a few of the places where you can buy some pretty great food and drink

Ice Cream – Cadwaladers

Their vanilla ice cream is a secret recipe which was created in the 1940s and is sold in all their stores. You can get this in a cone, and in their delicious milkshakes and sundaes.

Cadwaladers also do a changing range of ice cream flavours throughout the year which means you can try new flavours every time you visit. The only difficulty will be in choosing!

Seafood – Moorings Bistro

Sited by Black Rock Sands, Moorings Bistro is the sort of place you can have dinner after a stroll along the beach.

Using lots of local, home grown ingredients, sea food is a theme on the menu with starters such as Seafood and Fennel Chowder and Moules Marinieres and a Fish of the Day main course.

Afternoon tea- Portmeirion

If you’re going to do afternoon tea, there’s no more suitable place than the beautiful picturesque Italianate village of Portmeirion.

Afternoon tea is served either in the formal dining room at The Hotel Portmeirion, the more informal Castell Deudreuth brasserie, or on the terraces where you can overlook the colourful village.

There’s a wide range of teas on offer, and a traditional afternoon tea menu with or without Prosecco or Champagne.

Coffee- Siop Coffee

If you want a quick but good quality coffee, Siop Coffee is a great place to visit. With fresh, aromatic smelling coffee and a range of loose leaf teas.

You’ll also find homemade cakes on offer each day, and dogs are welcome here.

Vegan/Vegetarian – Vegonia Wholefoods/Good Life Cafe

If you’re looking to maintain your vegan lifestyle, or you’re a non meat eater, then you’ll want to know where the veggie options are.

To stock up on some vegan basics and snacks, Vegonia whole foods is the place to visit. With over 3000 items in stock including chilled foods, and lots of stock cupboard basics. You’ll also find vegan pet foods, toiletries, household supplies and vitamins and minerals here. Everything you need for the vegan lifestyle.
