Penrhyn Castle

Now owned by the National Trust Penrhyn Castle is simply astonishing. Originally a medieval fortified castle dating back from 1438 the building has evolved with the present building being created between 1822 and 1837. However there are parts of the old building still in existence including a spiral staircase and a vaulted basement. The Castle cost the Pennant family some £150,000 to build back in the day. Thats equivalent to some £49.5 Million in todays money! The house has some amazing features and even houses a bed commissions specifically for Queen Victorias 1859 visit which weighs over 1 tone!

Soft play

Kids just love a good soft play! We have 2 reasonably close by the first “Drai Bach / Little Dragons” in Bleuna Ffestiniog and the other “Y Den” in Pwllheli. We like each for different reasons. Draig Bach is located in a former chapel  and has 4 levels of play areas. It has been immaculately clean on all occasions we have visited, They serve good coffee and good food. The kids love the fact the soft play is 4 floors high and its beautifully cool in the summer but on the down side it can be quite cold in there in the winter if your sat down watching the kids who are oblivious to the cold whilst running around and 4 floors up in the warmth!
